Greeting everyone

There is not a formal newsletter this month, and I will play it by ear over the next few months. If someone would like to take over the newsletter, that would be more than appreciated. I've never been more busy than I am right now. Below you will find Jim Smith's message to the flock. This Saturday is our July Potluck at the Tee hangers @ Davenport. Bring a dish to pass, we eat at noon. Don't forget your tables, chairs and table settings. And if you have any tools from the chapter's tool library, now is the time to return them . They will be needed at AirVenture.
See ya all later, I gotta go pound some nails...........
Ron

President's Message

It is finally summer and good weather for some flying.
Thanks to all who helped on the Ford Tri-motor visit. We got great press coverage in spite of the late arrival. The final tally is not in yet but rides were way down because of the weather. We received a very nice thank you from the pilots and crew for the hospitality Chapter 75 members showed them. They said to be sure to stop by and say hi to them at Osh Kosh.
A big thanks to the Rahlf’s once again for all their hard work and hospitality for the June meeting. It wasn’t as well attended as in the past, but once again the weather got in the way. The air strip was not dry enough to land on, and many of the Chapter 111 members live on the west side of the Cedar River. They would have had to drive clear to Dubuque to get only a few miles to Muscatine.
The Young Eagles event went well last weekend with 69 young people getting a ride. Thanks to all who helped in any way and the pilots who flew the Young Eagles. It was a great success due to the fact that the QCAA Wanna Be event was held at the same time. Both organizations worked very well together at the Davenport Terminal Building. It is rewarding to see and hear the Young Eagles come back after their flight, many of them who have never even been in an airplane before, commercial or small aircraft.
Thanks to Steve Beert, the tool committee met at his house on Wednesday, July 2nd. Each member has a list of tools and/or equipment to secure before Air Venture. That should take care of some of the shortage when duplicate tools are needed as there are times when tools are going from one project to another due to the fact that we only have one of the particular hand tool that is needed.
The July meeting is a potluck at the Davenport Airport, hangar E-1. Bob Olds and Jim Smith are the hosts. Brats and hotdogs will be furnished along with soda, water and coffee. Bring your own table service and a dish to pass. The time is noon on Saturday, July 12th. Come early - stay late for some good hangar talk. If the gate is not open, you can land on runway “0321”. That runway is now open since the airshow is over.
After the Saturday potluck we won’t be meeting again until after Air Venture. For those planning on attending, either flying or driving, have a safe trip. I know all those planning on volunteering time at the Repair Barn are looking forward to getting together again and helping out in any way those who come up to our window in need of help.
